Donor Recognition Dinner

On Thursday, October 27th 2011, the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Patron of the Home from the Sea Campaign, the Honourable John C. Crosbie, hosted the first Donor Recognition Dinner at Government House in St. John’s.

Pilot° Communications developed the campaign concept, the brand, the plan and execution strategy for the Home from the Sea Capital Campaign to raise $2 million dollars in support of a Sealers Memorial and Interpretation Centre in the town of Elliston, Newfoundland and Labrador. This project, which includes a memorial sculpture and surrounding memorial site, as well as an interpretation centre and walking path, will commemorate the lives lost in the two sealing disasters of 1914. The campaign will honour all sealers who have made tremendous sacrifices, it will acknowledge their contribution to our province and our people, and it will help shape our future as we continue to build awareness and education.

Early contributors were acknowledged at the dinner for their support of this vital campaign. Renowned Newfoundland and Labrador folk duo, Jim Payne and Fergus O’Byrne, provided entertainment for the evening.
